How Not To Market Your Listing! Day 2 - Wednesday...

I have been perusing MLS and contacting Realtors who might not understand the value of Property Styling based on the photos I find.

I have had a fairly positive experience with 5 Realtors interested in my services, 2 who want a presentation for their office, one who wants a quote on a vacant show home and one I'm meeting today to give a proposal on a vacant condo downtown.

My husband has started to laugh at me when he hears me muttering about some of the photos I see, so I thought I would share some of the mutter/gasp inducing gems!

I don't know about you, but to me a bedroom needs to be a bit of a retreat to get away from it all, sleep well and recharge... NOT! playboy

This must be a bachelor pad judging by the linens...

Peg - Wow! What a photo. I think I would have skipped that room. Realtors are usually pretty creative photographers but there is only so much we can shoot around --lol They REALLY need you!

Peg, That is so awful. It is tough sometimes. We have a listing where the lady refuses to clean up her house. She knew I was coming for pics, but still left it a mess. What do you do? I wanted to start cleaning but held back. The pictures are awful!!!

Peg~Way to get creative about "creating" business! Smart move, missy. I love the Bachelor Pad comment. Oy vey, they really make a Playboy comforter, TOO? Yikes. I just met with a family who have seven children, and as we went through the good-sized home (3300 SQ.FT), EVERY SINGLE ROOM was a disaster. We even went into one bedroom where the teenager's alarm was going off (it was 6pm on a Fri. nite) and she was still in bed--needless to say I didn't go in. There was one room with a ginormous all-encompassing couch, which she physically had to move so that we could get into the room WITH THE KIDS STILL SITTING THERE WATCHING A MOVIE. They also owe too much, and it won't sell for enough for them to make any money, even IF it sold. I don't think I'll be listing it.

Oh the things we see!

Gaylefriend*snap*, that reminds me of a consult I did a while back. 4 kids, twins in diapers and two older ones, I couldn't go into the twins room because they were sleeping, and then when I went into the master the two older kids and auntie were watching a movie while I tried to talk to the sellers about what to do... at least the dog stayed outside! I don't blame you for walking away!
