Today was a good day in Las Vegas. I was able to hear three excellent speakers and one ok speaker. I got to meet several smart, witty, sharing associates, including Jeff Turner of Real Estate Shows, Jennifer Allen of Sell with Soul, Daniel and Kari Rothamel and Dustin Lutherof Move.com and RainCityGuide.com, among others. And to top it off, I got to see Cirque De Soleil's Mystere.
This morning I was able to hear Dustin Luther's presentation "Understanding Your Online Competition." It was a great talk, very informative, and you could tell Dustin is very passionate about blogging.
Dustin wasn't talking about competing with other real estate agents. His subject involved competing with other internet sites in general. He addressed different things you could include in your site to make it more successful, and what you can do to improve your Page Rankings. Oh, yeah, he told us about Page Ranking too.
My second session was spent with Dirk Zeller, where he spoke on "Positioning Yourself as the Market Expert." Although the material was not what I expected, it was informative, especially for newer agents. He gave us a lot of ideas, but many of them were things I am already doing. However, that made me take his advice up a level. In other words, it made me think of ways I could take his advice one step further.
After a quick lunch at a crowded deli, I hurried back only to leave a discussion on short sales. Pretty much everything the gentleman was saying was stuff I already knew. There was no new content for me. For someone who is not experienced in short sales, I'm sure it was an eye-opening experience,
After chatting with several other bloggers in the tiny blogger lounge, I decided to go to Seth Godin's keynote speech, "Remarkable or Invisible?" Fantastic! Great speaker, good ideas, good powerpoint presentation, and funny too. Plus I sat with fun people, and that makes it even better. I walked away with a few ideas and several realizations.
By the way, Jeff Turnerinterviewed me about Seth Godin's presentation. Go to www.NARUpdates.wordpress.com, and you'll find it there.
Then a quick walk through the Expo, rush to eat dinner, then off to the theater just in time. Mystere is a pretty good show. A little weird, but then I tend to like weird stuff. I didn't expect to be funny and beautiful at the same time.
I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings me!
