The Baldwin Union Free School District (Baldwin UFSD), which encompasses Baldwin, Baldwin Harbor, and parts of Freeport, Roosevelt, South Hempstead and Rockville Centre, has a total population of approximately 34, 000.
There are 9 public schools in the Baldwin Union Free School District, which include 7 elementary schools, 1 middle school and a senior high school.
The seven elementary schools, which contain grades K-5, are Lenox School, Shubert School, Plaza School, Brookside School, Milburn School, Steele School and Meadow School.
Baldwin Middle School contains grades 6-8, but the sixth graders spend most of their time in a special wing except for music, gym, lunch, arts, computer technology, and language.
Baldwin Senior High School, which contains grades 9-12, is a Nationally Recognized School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, is the 8th largest in Nassau County.
Elementary, middle school and high school students have been recognized individually on the county, state and national level for their academic, fine arts and extra-curricular achievements.
Baldwin's commitment to education can be summed up by a quote from the school district's website, "Its (the Baldwin Union Free School District) 5,500 students are served by a professional staff of 469 teachers, supervisors, and administrators. A very active Parent-Teacher Association complements and enhances the efforts of the Board of Education and district staff to sustain an environment for meaningful teaching and learning which has provided countless avenues for student success for over 100 years".
