PRAYER VIGIL FOR CANCER PATIENTS

By
Real Estate Agent with Weichert Referral Associates

On December ninth from 3PM till 9PM my church Lafayette Federated is holding a prayer vigil for cancer victims. All of the pastors from the county chuches have recieved letters inviting them and their congregation to attend. If you can,t attend we have sent forms to fill out names of people to pray for.I don,t know a person alive that does not know someone suffering from cancer and am asking everyone I know to be a part of this.

Just because you can't make it to New Jersey doesn't mean that you can't take a few minutes to offer someone you know with cancer up to the Lord. This entire country is in need of a revival and I can't think of a better way to get started. If you don,t think praying is enough to make a difference you might want to try fasting and praying.

I heard a very interesting sermon on fasting the other day.  I don't want to go into all the biblical applications, thats for another blog but one thing he said stuck with me. The fast should not befor yourself, your should be offering it up to the Lord in order to ask his blessing on someone else.

To someone who spent 30 years workingin kitchensand who made picking an art form, fasting is not the easiest thing for me to do. But this week I offered up my fast for two people who'm Ihave been praying for and I prayed for them throughout the day and it went so well that I was seriously considering going for two days next week.

If you truly do have faith and your Christianity means more to you than just service on Sunday than you can start the revival. One person at a time we can make a difference. Cancer today and then who knows whats next.So if you can put aside a few minutes on Sunday Dec. 9th, pray for someone you know who has cancer. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

 GOD BLESS YOU

Hugh, I think it is a wonderful thing your church is doing. i have several people I know who are struggling with cancer and I will join you and your church family on the 9th to pray for them. Would you do me a favor and if you have a list of names at your church would you add Tommy Stone to it? He is suffering from bone cancer and the Dr's hold no hope for him but Tommy believes God is greater than cancer. He wants anyone and everyone to pray for his healing. Thanks

Hugh: I believe in the power of pray and I will join in your pray... In my family I have a nephew who was born with auditory neuropathy (kind of deafness) and is doing very well now. Prays and circle of family/friends prayers did a miracle.

Hugh:  You KNOW that I will do my part and pray for the victims of this terrible disease. I know the power of prayer...of God's people coming together in agreement.

As I was reading your post, I thought about something. You said that fasting was difficult for you...and I know that many people struggle with it. I myself do. I get weak when I don't eat for more than 6 or 7 hours. However, I thought back to the times that I've been involved in serious crisis with loved ones who are fighting for their lives. Somehow....in those times...eating is the last thing on my mind. I think the urgency of the moment overrides our other senses. I suppose that goes back to perspective. For the people who are suffering through this disease...it is urgent! How can we even compare a meal to a person's life? We can't. We need to stand with them...and help them fight. God bless you!

I'll start praying now. It's a horrible disease. I know people that were living life to the fullest and all of a sudden--downhill till they were 6 ft under.

But there is hope and James says it best,

Jam 5:16Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.

May our prayers produce the most wonderful results!

Hugh I will join you in spirit on the 9th lifting my sister Jenny collings up before the Lord, as her breast cancer has spread throughout her body and into her brain. The doctors do not give her any hope and she is devastated. She lives in the UK but I know God is not limited by distance.

Thanks for the post. Nick

Hugh, I will join you in prayer from Texas for those for whom you are praying and for the Sarah Ouellete, a neighbor of mine that is suffering from breast cancer.  She has already lived beyond what the doctors expected.  At this moment, she does not know the Lord.  I pray that she and the other cancer victims will open their hearts to the Lord and accept the comfort that only He can provide.  Grace and Peace.

Hugh - You can take Tommy's name off the prayer list for healing as he has gone to his reward in heaven after 2+ years of fighting this dreaded disease. I will pray for the victory for many who are still fighting and believing this weekend.
