Monday is the Perfect Day to Eat the Frog

"If it is your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first." Mark Twain

frog, monday, beginning of the week, procrastinationHERE WE GO AGAIN. Monday morning. I've lived through more than 3,000 of them. I expect to survive this one as well.

So, since it is Monday and I cannot change that, and since I am going to have to deal with it one way or the other, how best should I spend it?"

I sit at my desk with no good answer to that question. I resort to the Internet for inspiration. It takes little time to come across Twain's quote.

Last week, were there any frogs I had put off eating until next week (which officially began when I woke today).

Yeah, there were.

I shall begin this week by taking Twain's advice and clearing my calendar of this week's unpleasant or cumbersome tasks. Line 'em up, knock 'em down. There are telephone calls to return. Papers to organize. It may even be good to start the week with a sale - or at least try.

But, it is Monday morning. I'm not sure the inspiration is up to the frogs. Perhaps, before taking a bite out of it all, I should spend a bit more time surfing the net, find a bit more inspiration. After all, it is a Monday.

Interesting ... If I want to buy a new car, Mondays are the day to do it. Huh! Did you know if you mix the letters of "Monday" you can spell "dynamo."

But I'm not going to buy a new car, dynamo or not. Here's why. Monday is the most common day of the week to have a heart attack (20 percent greater chance than during the rest of the week). And, suicide rates are highest on Mondays.

I need to watch my stress level today - tread carefully with my frog eating efforts. That was close. I found out about Monday's hidden dangers just in the nick of time.

Still, as time passes, I am reminded of another interesting fact: If you ignore a task long enough, it still won't go away.

My frogs are getting larger. Okay, I probably have put the day off for long enough. I'm lining up the frogs, largest frog first. Still, no rush, no pressing my luck. After all, it is a Monday. Slow but steady, the frog eating must begin.

Frog eating?

Perhaps, maybe I need to spend a bit more time on the Internet, find the right frog recipe ...

Bon Apetit. I believe in eating the frog first thing. It's amazing what happens to the rest of your day after that. Today I have several frogs to choke through, and then I'm going to have fun with the rest of my day.

Never heard that quote before but whole heartedly agree! Face your hurdles head on, over come them, and enjoy knowing you don't have that hanging over your head anymore.

Hi Grant - Well, maybe you could develop a taste for frogs, particularly since they show up on the menu so often these days. I agree that the Monday morning ones are the hardest to choke down.
