Selling My Community, Portsmouth, Exeter, and the NH Seacoast

By
Real Estate Agent with BHG RE / The Masiello Group

I am a lucky person.  I'm in a profession that welcomes people to Portsmouth, Exeter, and the NH Seacoast.  I am a Realtor(R) which means I not only help people from out of the area buy homes, condos, and land, but have an opportunity to welcome them into the communities where I live, work, and raise a family.  Most recently I  was conducting a showing of a nice condo in Exeter, NH to a buyer from Manchester, NH which is only a short 30 miles down the road.  The buyer's search had really just begun and their agent told me that the buyer was looking in several towns in and around the NH Seacoast.  While the buyer knew they wanted to be in the area they were not particularly well acquainted with my hometown of Exeter.  Of course, I took the opportunity to point out the usual positive attributes of the neighborhood, but then went on to fill them in on some of the great things about Exeter proper.  I know this town well.  I live here.  I work here.  I raise a family here.  I play here.  It's easy for me to get excited about my town.  I love Exeter New Hampshire:

But.... Maybe there was a town, city, or community better suited to these particular buyers... and that's where we get to the lucky, or perhaps I should say, the fortunate part.  Every town and city around The Seacoast of New Hampshire shares some common attributes that make it a terrific region to live in.  If you live on or about the Seacoast of New Hampshire you are about an hour from the world class city of Boston, Massachusetts and also within an hour of Portland, ME.  You can be on the beach within 20 minutes at the most and more likely within 10 minutes.  You can be hiking, skiing, or playing whatever fulfills your need to recreate outdoors almost anywhere locally, or in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire in 60-90 minutes.  Those are but a few of the things we all share here.... but each town is different.

Portsmouth is a great little city right on the water, with excellent restaurants, nightlife, and history that comes alive in its architecture and streets.  Some might say that Greenland, Stratham, and Hampton Falls are bedroom communities best suited to raising a family with a little more quiet and space.  Perfect for many.  Hampton has its beaches and much, much more.  Rye has its quiet country settings with homes from simple to majestic, along with waterfront estates as well as "lobster shacks."  As a Realtor(R) its my job to know these communities the best that I can and to help buyers find the community and home that suits them best.  As a local resident and local expert I get no end to the satisfaction I feel knowing that I can find the right match.

So.... What did I say to the potential buyer of the condo that I was showing and that I may never see again?  "Welcome to the Seacoast of New Hampshire, and welcome to Exeter.  I am sure you'll be happy wherever you land and good luck with your search!"  It was honest.  I made the prospect feel welcome and warm.  It delivered a positive note to my fellow agent and broker.

I love my profession, and I love where I live.  I'm not shy about showing it, and you shouldn't be either!
