Local Real Estate Expert (and "Car Guy") for Portsmouth, Exeter, and the New Hampshire Seacoast

What's great about being a local expert and Realtor for Portsmouth, Exeter, and the surrounding communities of the New Hampshire Seacoast?  Helping people find the right home for them!  I love being knowledgeable about the community I live in, Exeter, New Hampshire, and I love it that Portsmouth, Stratham, Rye, Newfields, and a host of other great towns on the New Hampshire Seacoast are in my backyard.  I know them well.  It's great having a career that allows me to share that knowledge in a practical way.

Long before I became a Realtor, and even as far back as high school I’ve been what’s known as a “Car Guy.”  I love cars, I proudly admit it.  I love being around them.  I love the sights, sounds, and even smell of almost anything automotive, and because of that it was natural that I became an expert.  For decades my friends, family, and coworkers have come to me for car advice of all kinds.  However, I learned something over time when they came to me for advice on buying a new car .  They usually weren’t coming to me for advice but mostly for me to “bless” a choice they had already made.  In short, most people didn’t want me to tell them which car to buy, they wanted me to tell them that their selection was a good one because I was an expert. Choosing a car is a deeply personal decision for most people and their wants and motivations for buying run the range from a need for basic transportation to automobiles that serve as an extension of who they are or even want to be.   What does this all have to do with real estate and bringing home buyers and sellers together?

Choosing a home is a deeply personal decision for most people and their wants and motivations for buying run the range from a need for a roof over their head to homes that serve as an extension of who they are or even want to be.... and many more needs too numerous to list!

My career as a real estate agent and local expert for the Exeter, Portsmouth, and the Seacoast of New Hampshire has a lot in common with being the friend who is an expert about cars.

As I work for a client it is not my job to convince them that any given home or town is “right” for them.  My tasks are to cover all the ground that I can and to turn over every stone to put clients in the home that actually suits them best, not according to what I know, but according to the real expert, the client.  Of course, I  take the time to listen to my client’s needs, desires, and dreams so that I can put buyers and sellers together in homes that seem like the right match, but the final purchase of a home is a deeply personal decision.  There may be forces at work that not even the buyer may fully understand.  Beyond location, curb appeal, school systems, and finances there is the home that you just fall in love with, and who can argue that love is easy to understand?

I want to be your local expert when it comes to buying your new home in the seacoast area of New Hampshire.  I’ve visited all 50 states and I have chosen Exeter, NH as my home for most of the last 20 years.  I love living in the Portsmouth NH seacoast region and I’ve become an advocate for all this area has to offer.

Over two decades ago I worked as a car salesman during a break from my career in software project management.  During my first full month at the dealership I was the top salesperson.  I attributed my success to four things; knowing my product, being honest, listening to my customers, and doing my best to make a large financial transaction as smooth as possible.

My career in real estate is guided by these same principles, knowing my market and listings, being honest, listening to my clients, and doing everything I can to make what may be the largest financial transaction in my client's life as smooth as possible.  The unfortunate end to selling cars is that every one drops in value the minute you drive it off the lot.  The greatest thing about putting people in the right home on the NH Seacoast is watching dreams come true.

Good morning Paul. I loved your picture and so I read your blog. Interesting point and I agree with you. Most people want us to affirm their thinking and it is our job to provide information and not dictate what they should have. Nicely done.
