Durham/Triangle, NC: A Great Place to Live and Get Educated!

By
Real Estate Agent

GraduationIt's nothing new that the Triangle area of North Carolina (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, and the surrounding towns) has long been known as a great place to live and work - and recently, Forbes.com named Durham, North Carolina as one of the Top 20 Places to Educate Your Child (#20).

The magazine ranked each city in five areas, and here is how Durham fared: Public School Support, B; Private School Options, B+; Library Popularity, A; College Town, A+; and College Options, A.

Anyone wishing to receive an education can certainly find a place to call home in the Triangle. Choices include:

WorkWe have so much to be proud of in the Triangle, and education is only one area. In April, Forbes named Durham as the #7 place for Business and Career. This isn't the least bit surprising, especially since we have Research Triangle Park, founded in 1959, boasts 157 research and development facilities. There are approximately 39,000 equivalent full-time employees.

Some of the largest employers as of January 2007 are:

  1. IBM: 10,800
  2. GlaxoSmithKline: 6,400
  3. Cisco Systems: 3,400
  4. Nortel Networks: 2,800
  5. RTI International: 2,600

For a more comprehensive list of companies, see this Quick Guide.

BeachNot only is the Triangle area a great place to live, work, and obtain a great education, it is also a great place to retire. Retirees can enjoy great weather, access to fantastic beaches, and North Carolina Mountains, as well as outstanding healthcare, including Duke University Medical Center, Rex Healthcare, and UNC Hospitals.

I could go on and on and on about this beautiful state I call home - but words just can't do it justice!

If you're thinking of relocating to the Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill or the surrounding towns, I would love to help you!

We hope to see you soon...

Cynthia ~ We are so fortunate to live in North Carolina. I could definitely work on the public relations committee for the tourism folks. I have traveled throughout the United States, and only found one other place I would consider living - Sedona, AZ. Hands down, NC is one of the best places to live, work, and play. Thanks for stopping by!
