Little Bunny Foo Foo... An Easter Memory from my Grade School Teaching Days...

By
Real Estate Agent with New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County

As many of us Active Rainers celebrate this Joyous Easter Sunday, I was reminded yesterday of a post I first read just about four years ago.

The post was written by Active Rain's illustrious overall points leader... the esteemed Mr Todd Clark.  Seeing one of Todd's posts yesterday, and remembering that post from about four years ago, I jumped into the Active Rain "search" function, to try and find it.

Oh... woe was me.  I could not find it.  But... Todd was gracious to go down into his wine seller (I am guessing) where he also has some space for some of his older posts.

Todd found the post... and graciously re-presented it on his blog yesterday.  My Easter Dinner (1982) – And a look in to my sense of humor (A reblog for Karen Anne Stone).

As I was writing a comment to Todd about his Easter Dinner post... I found a part of my humorous mind... (in the "demented" section) traveled back to my nine years of grade school teaching before I entered the swirling, whirling world of Real Estate in 1973.

It reminded my of a song one of my former students sang for me... leading a chorus of her girlfriends... and using her cute facial expressions... including her cute little "bunny nose" and otherwise acting out all the parts in the video.

So... thanks to YouTube... I was able to find a video of "Little Bunny Foo Foo" .  I caution you, however, that parts of this video get be little "iffy" if shared with some equally tender-hearted children on this Easter Sunday morning.

That young student... Lori Tamburino (younger sister of Mary Jo Tamburino (also a favorite)... was one of my many, many favorite students.  And yes, I guess, in a way... ALL of my students, in some way or another, were my "favorites."

Joni:  Oh yes.  I taught junior high school in the Catholic Schools in Cleveland, Ohio for nine years before I went into my  second career as a Realtor.  I have so many fond memories of those times.  Somehow, seeing Todd's post again... brought my mind's eye (and heart) back to little Lori and Mary Jo... singing and acting out Little Bunny Foo Foo for me.  Oh how I would LOVE to have a video of them actually doing it.

And a Joyous Easter to you, as well... Joni.

I'm glad my wicked sense of humor along with my grandfathers humor could bring back some good memories, I know it has for me. (Did you see I found it? October 2007... Who knows why I posted it then) But, you were right, even with remembering part of the title I couldn't find it in the Activerain search.

Karen Anne only you - and now Todd could make me laugh about sick stuff on Easter.  I can just imagine those girls singing it all those years ago.  When Paul was around 15 he teased the girls who were 4 or 5 years younger by putting ketchup on a chocolate bunny and eating the ears off.  We heard all this squealing going on and sure enough he was chasing the with a bloody bunny in his mounth.

Happy Easter!

This video is like a scene from The Hunger Games. But I have a decent sense of humor so all is well. I hope you are having a wonderful day. We are all suffering from various stages of the flu. NOT fun. Happy Easter to you.

Here's a holiday dinner story I would like to share.

I remember one Thanksgiving with my husband pulling a turkey out of the oven. One of our "pet" turkeys was wandering the yard and had gotten up on the roof. The turkey happened to be looking down at the roasted bird, from a skylight, just was Dan was pulling it out of the oven. That was too perfect.

Little Bunny Foo Foo was a song my daughter and I used to sing when she was little.  Funny how we all cringe at the scene in Fatal Attraction when Glenn Close boils up the pet bunny.  Bunny Boller is now a term in the Urban Dictionary.  Now back to regularly scheduled light hearted Easter posts.

Karen Anne, never heard that song. The little field mice didn't stand a chance but with that fairy the hare was a goon anyway. Amazing you remembered that from way back when. Happy Easter.

I never heard of Little Bunny Foo Foo Karen Anne. But thinking back on a lot of the nursery rhymes I new as a child, some of them were quite violent. Like Three blind mice.

Karen:   I have fond memories of this little song, when my boys were little.  It was on a CD that I played for them in the car and they loved it, especially the "Bopping", part:   Little Bunny Foo Foo, Hopping through the forest. Scooping up the field mice. And boppin' 'em on the head.

Karen Anne, One question....can I do that with commenters?   That was one I must have missed as a child, thankfully.

Suzanne:  Oh yes.  Every once in a while... boppin' 'em on the head seems to be the best alternative.

I missed this as a child, as well.  But I was just totally thrilled and amused when these two girl students of mine... prolly about 12 or 13 years of age, sang this song for me one day in class... complete with cute facial expressions and hand/puppet antics.  I truly DO have some great memories from my nine years of teaching seventh and eighth grade.

Ha, Karen Anne - you sent my mind flying back to many MANY years ago - although we used to sing it as "Little Rabbit Foo Foo"....it never loses its special brand of charm. Although not something from my personal childhood, I definitely remember the (seemingly endless) renditions my lovely nieces used to sing - and really wondered how a childrens story could celebrate the 'bopping' of any little critter.  But then again, Bambi is also a beloved children's tale...

Wishing you the most lovely day, Karen Anne...and now I have that darn melody in my head!!!!!! :-)
