The Ashokan Reservoir can be seen faintly in the distance when standing on top of Overlook Mountain in Woodstock NY. In the late 1800's the Overlook Hotel was perched on this mountaintop, and business was booming. Nowadays the ruins of the hotel (which burned down long ago) are still there to explore. The top of Overlook Mountain has some of the best views in Ulster County NY; well worth the approximately 5 mile (round trip) hike! Just minutes from Main Street Woodstock NY, Overlook Mountain is the perfect day hike for visitors spending the weekend in this cool Upstate NY town.
