Search Engine Optimization is so important for your real estate website these days! Don't forget that your social media networks can help you along! Here's a nice post about how to get started.

Real Estate SEO is getting more complicated all the time, and stumps even the experts! Case in point: An SEO guru in one of my Facebook groups, Asif Anwar, got his first post featured in Search Engine Journal's website. (Congratulations, Asif!) His very last words in the article are "we are really not sure how Google will use the site block information. So, let's hope they make good use of it." Read the rest of this informative article here: Is SERP Bounce a Ranking Signal or a Quality Factor for SEO?

Google also uses your +1s and links on social media sites to help rank a page. Social opinions are valued by people more than advertisements, so it only makes sense that Google will be focusing more on social elements in the days to come. Get ready, because like it or not, you need to be involved in at least one social media channel.

Real Estate SEO & Social - Image courtesy of TopRank Online MarketingOnce you get the hang of one channel, you can check out others. What is considered a social media channel? Active Rain is one of them. So there you go, you have hopefully mastered the fine art of blogging and blog commenting. You can venture outside of Active Rain to check out the wealth of self-hosted blogs out there. The majority of those blogs in the comment section will have a place for you to insert your website. Why would you do this? Because it is an inbound link, that's why! Set a goal of how many blogs to comment on each day and watch your amount of inbound links rise! This will affect your SEO in a good way.

Review sites factor in as well, and I personally consider those social media channels. Merchant Circle actually has a place where you can blog and you can connect with others. Yelp is a common review site that allows you to connect with other businesses.

Location based "check-ins" like Foursquare and Facebook Places are social media sites. These are gaining in popularity because it brings social to life! I have heard many people comment that people watch when you check in somewhere and if they are there too, they will look you up in person, which brings social to the ultimate level.

Of course, the common social media sites are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Tumblr, Posterous, etc. Choose a couple to focus on based on where your potential clients are, and be sure to link all your blog posts to those sites.

Hopefully by now you are convinced of the need to be more social online in order to have better search engine results.
