Ever Been To a Re-Gift Party?

A Lot of our friends were not able to get together for various reasons during the holiday season this year. Everyone's timing was off. We all wanted to get together and decided to wait until after New Years past to do something when it was more convenient for all. So we did. We decided to have an after holidays Re-Gift party. At first I was skeptical.  My wife explained it to me.

What you do is:  everyone wraps and brings their worst  gift and Re-gifts it to someone else. You play a white elephant type gift game where everyone draws a number.

Now at first I thought this was a stupid idea...especially since The  Texas Aggies were playing Basketball on TV and Pittsburgh and Seattle were battling it out also . But the more the game advanced the more fun it was. We were able to watch the  sports games and play our game simultaneously. It turned out to be a great evening with friends. If you are interested, here are some of the gifts that some of the men received:

  •     Cut glass matching perfume bottle set
  •     Lilac scented potpourri aerosol spray-can
  •     And my favorite..... a dainty small stuffed cat with lace tutu. (That is what I drew for)
  •     The most fought after gift of the night...... was the ceramic Beer Butt Chicken Cooker.  Very popular.

Well the party was a success. Most of the food was eaten. Everyone was happy.  There was only one negative...A University of Texas fan spent the entire evening teaching Peepers , our parrot , to say Hook-em Horns. It is very very hard to unteach a parrot anything.

I like it what a good way to have fun with all those unwanted gifts.

LOL

We have had great success with Dirty Santa... although, now that I think of it, I still have the plastic Fairly Oddparents aquarium in my garage. I wonder who could use that...

It sounds like you had a good time, I have never been to one but it sounds like a party I would love to throw one year.  A lilac scented potpourri aerosol spray can, who would give that type of gift?

Have a wonderful day!

How fun!  I have not heard of that before, although I will admit I am guilty of re-gifting once or twice!

The fun is not over .   When we cleaned up after the party, we disccovered one couple had left their presents behind .  We will have to insure that they get them again next year!

Trey~ that sounds like a great time! I'll have to remember that. I have some great "unwanted" gifts around here that I'd love to pass on to a better home. Anyway, good luck with that parrot thing... at least he didn't teach him something more foul!
