Adult Movies Especially Westerns
I used to think adult movies were productions that were over twenty one years old. On today’s TV, offerings of 21years old are hardly out of short pants. We can see the same movie, often on the same channel, over and over so many times we can repeat the script verbatim.
Let’s talk age, real age, 60 plus years. I particularly liked Westerns in my youth. I knew the Painted Desert, Badlands and Old Tucson of Arizona, Monument Valley, the mountains and the parks of Utah, almost rock by rock, totally out of context in time or space but who cared.
White-hatted heroes, black-hatted villains, horses with fancy names, gun play to be imitated, and over-weight, aging Sheriffs who had lost their way, but who could be relied on to restore law and order and sweep the heroine off her feet before riding off into the sunset seventy to ninety minutes later, credits only occupying two minutes at the start, tops.
Who might have thought that not only am I seeing movies I last saw at 6 or 7 years old, but that was 60 plus years ago – and I remember the scenes and the dialogue. Some are wearing extremely well. Death and scalpings without too much blood, lots of stunts and not harming our tender psyches, political correctness notwithstanding.
Who might have thought that in my senior years, having moved from half a world away, I now reside in Utah. Any short drives here show me that scenery and action areas from my favorite movies are indeed now on my doorstep. A wonderful way to relive some of the real values of my youth.
