One of the homes another Dillsboro agent and I showed together was a beautiful rustic house about 6 miles away from Western Carolina University… many people here would call it “private” but people from outside our area would call it “remote”.
While the listing agent was securing the house after showing it, I noticed what I thought was a sprinkler head off the deck. First of all, what’s odd about that is that in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are in a rainforest! Hardly ever a need to have a sprinkler system to water the lawn. Second of all, did I mention there was no lawn!?
So, in the interest of you all … the ActiveRain community with the voracious reading appetite, I braved the spider webs and risks of ticks to get the photo. I was rewarded for the effort by finding a second very cool looking mushroom also off the deck.
Turns out the seller is a mutual acquaintance of the listing agent and me, a good friend to the listing agent and a former customer of our Venture Out camping and backpacking store. One of those guys we liked to see coming because we enjoyed visiting with him. He grew up in a family nursery and greenhouse business so that might explain the interesting plant life around the place.
Realtors usually have a camera with them and for sure have a cell phone which doubles as a camera. Pay attention to your clients, show the property but when you are giving them some private space take that time to turn your eyeballs into camera lenses. You’d hate to miss the wondrous photo opportunities around us every minute.
Until I learn differently, I’ve named the white mushroom the “Sprinkler Head Mushroom” but haven’t found a clever nickname for the other one. Any ideas?
