NAR Starts Hitting Back

By
Real Estate Agent with BHHS NJ Properties

The National Association of Realtors® has finally started swinging back at the media in a meaningful way. After years of being beaten up in the print and broadcast press as nothing more than a self-interested spreader of non-truths, NAR has created a website that will be a valuable tool in countering the most distorted representations of the real estate market.  That website is www.HousingMarketFacts.com

In addition to having the latest market reports and statistics, the site boosts the notion that the best information for the public comes from local Realtors®, not the press looking at the phantom "national market."  The public can even search for a local Realtor® or company by location or name.

Gosh, could this become a more useful site than www.KarlKnowsTheMarket.com?

  Naaah.

I heard the commerical on the radio yesterday.. it was great!!  Finally we realtors having a voice on the airwaves that had substance, I really did appreciate the fact the ad said REAL ESTATE IS A LOCAL MARKET, as your local REALTOR for information.

Thanks for the site info.  Too bad the type is so small, it's difficult to read.  Hopefully, consumers know to hit the F11 button to maximize their screen or change other settings so they can read the info.  :)

Sending consumers to Realtor.com is hardly a favor to home buyers who will be directed directly to the listing agents.

So far have we come, so far have we yet to go.

Seems to me that the timing of touting the investment potential of real estate to consumers who have just lost significant equity value is like rubbing salt in a raw wound.

The NAR is really on the "invetment" kick.  It could back fire on them.

Thanks for the post, now if it would get equal exposure with all the bad news we would be ok.

I did check out the DOJ site, and it is nice to see that NAR is finally answering it.

Lenn, just where did you want buyers sent? Zillow? Yahoo?  I am a bit puzzled that you would find fault with a link to Realtor.com.  Maybe you could explain.
