Goal: Books read in 2012

I like to read so I thought it would be fun to see how much I do actually read.  At the beginning of the year, I decided to write down every book I read for the year.  I had never counted my books before.  All I know is that my family HATES it when I start a new book.  I have a very bad habit of not doing anything else until the book is finished.

So far this year I have read 61 books.  That averages to almost 7 books a month.  While looking at my list of books, I realized that my book choices are from about 4-5 authors and for pure reading pleasure and what I call a fast read.  There is not one book that I would call self-help or motivational book in my completed list.  (And NO, I don’t consider 50 Shades of Grey one of those!)

I was even asked to join a local book club in Lake Ridge back in Jan.  I joined and haven’t been to one book club meeting because I didn’t want to read those books.  Not that I didn’t want to read them, but more because they were books that weren’t by my favorite authors.  Can you believe how stupid that sounds?  If you don’t change things, you will never know if you like other things, right?

So with all of this being said, I need to change my attitude and goals on my book reading!  So I have decided that for every 3 of my choice, I have to read the one book club book and then after that I have to read 1 self-help or inspirational book.

So I am not saying “Good Bye” to Janet Evanovich, Nora Roberts, Sue Grafton or James Patterson.  I am saying “Hello” to new and exciting worlds about to open up to me.

What books are you reading?  What are some good self-help or motivational books?

Well, I am off to finish my last 100 pages of the MREA (Millionaire Real Estate Agent!)
