Opening Day at the Texas REALTORS® Conference in San Antonio, TX
What a GREAT time we had a the TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS CONFERENCE over the last few days! Paula McDonald & I were only able to go for part of the time but we so enjoyed the time that we had. One of my favorites was definitely meeting fellow Active Rain Members, Jerry Newman and Cathy Bureau! Thank you to both of you to not only welcoming us to the great city of San Antonio but for all the fun we had as well!
I will also post some of the notes from the convention. Definitely some great things going on here in TEXAS in the REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY! Jerry shares below just a few hightlights from the very 1st day!
Opening Day at the Texas REALTORS® Conference in San Antonio, TX
Friday, September 7, 2012 was “Opening Day” for the Texas Association of REALTORS®
Conference in San Antonio, TX. I was excited to be able to attend my very first TAR Conference at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in downtown San Antonio, TX and looked forward to hearing many of the “key note” speakers like Chris Gardner, author of The Pursuit of Happiness, and our very own Active Rain CEO, Nikesh(Niki) Parekh.
Chris Gardner shared his very powerful testimony of overcoming tremendous obstacles of losing a job, a wife, and raising his young two year old son in a homeless environment. His humble beginnings and tough breaks didn’t stop him from pursuing his Dream. Everyone in the audience was touched and moved by his experiences, and I know that we can all learn from his hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
Prior to hearing Mr. Gardner at the “Opening Session” that afternoon, I had the privilege of attending two very good educational sessions. The first one was the Technology Forum with guest speaker, Kenn Renner, Keller Williams Broker, Arthur, and Speaker, who happens to have the No. 1 ranked YouTube Channel in the Nation with over 10 Million Views. Kenn presented a very powerful presentation as to why real estate agents need to be doing more videos, and promoting them on YouTube, since videos are big business, and Google owns YouTube. Sadly, only 12 percent of real estate professionals are doing any type of videos, and 78 percent of sellers would prefer their agents to have a stronger presence in the video marketing.
It was at this Technology Forum that I got to meet fellow Active Rain member, Tiffany Sneizek from the Woodlands in Houston, TX. Tiffany was there with her broker, Paula McDonald, whom I have followed as a virtual friend in Active Rain for over a year. It was great to finally meet both of these two wonderful ladies in person. We had lunch together that day, and later that evening meet with Cathy Bureau, another Active Rain Member from San Antonio, and TAR Ambassador.
Sunday morning at the Hyatt Regency, we will have a local Active Rain meetup with Nikesh(Niki) Parekh, and other Active Rain Members for breakfast and coffee. On Monday, I plan to hear Niki give his presentation at the Technology Explode Mind Share. This year’s TAR Conference has given me the opportunity to see other Active Rain Members in person, and to gain more knowledge, and experience about the real estate profession in the state of Texas. If you are in the San Antonio area, and you are thinking about buying, selling or renting, Contact your Local San Antonio Real Estate Agent, or visit my website at Homes For Sale in San Antonio.
