3000 Seniors tooting ~ almost a festive suggestion

Last week Sandy UT saw the annual Seniors Expo at the Sandy Exhibition Center. It's a two day event providing excelent information, services, entertainment, interactive displays, and in many cases, an enjoyable outing.

signal whistle

In my mobile chair, I was in competition with eager Senior, skilled users of walking canes, wheel chairs and assorted mobility equipment. The event had height as well as depth with colorful balloon arches and silver, floating lettering announcing venue areas.

Candy, pens and writing blocks were common, sought after give aways. Fresh popcorn and cookies were in demand.

One Senior Living Facility was giving white signalling whistles. Demand exceeded supply on the first day. Carrington Court had taken 3,000 whistles with them ~ they had a winner. You could forget about "76 trombones".

Recipients just had to test their new possession, and test them they did.

Cardboard white nurses hat, skeletons, and even a wicker coffin displayed by a Funeral Home, were other effective, innovative oddities encouraging interaction. Tourism opportunities and handyman information and displays.offered peaceful diversion.

Next time, you might consider taking a Senior as your excuse to go. Some of us are already qualified by age.

ps ~ when I demonstrated my whistle for my wife at home, I was told to remove it to a far distant hill.

Larry, goes to show you that no matter your age your inner child cedes to temptation! Enjoy your day!

Roger ~ it is said that people who buy tasers tend to test them on themselves ~ and never use them again.

Wayne ~ Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional. Put another way "It's never too late to have a happy childhood".

Larry,  I love your comment above.  So accurate it's funny, too.  The wicker coffin must have been a hit as well. Keep having fun!  Share with us at ActiveRain. too.

That's a great colon picture you've got there. I also think the wicker coffin must have been a hit.

Jill - the colon was like a bouncing castle for Seniors (without the motion of the kids' one). Most of the coffins displayed at the Expo were comfy one ~ the wicker version might be more suited to a tropical beach resort ;-}
