Scary Business Stats

Problems:

79 % of all leads generated at a trade show aren't followed up with.

The average company loses 50% of it's customers every 5 years years...the cost of replacing them can be 6-7 times more expensive.

A 5% increase in customer loyalty will yield 20-80% to your bottom line.

For every month that you don't contact or communicate with your customers, you lose 10% of your influence.

82% of all homeowners can't tell you the name of their Realtor if they bought their home more than two years ago.

95% of our customers will purchase from a competitor on impulse, even if you provide a great service.

Solutions:

Just saying "Thank You" to your customers...particularly new customers, even with only a phone call, will increase your business by 17%.

Only 3% of our mail is personal... how do you feel when you walk out to the mailbox and see a personal card addressed to you?  Your friends, family, customers and prospects are no different!

Philip,

Well put and well said...I hand write all my correspondence, and call my clients frequently...at least once a quarter after the sale (emails go out once a month, followed with letters, on holidays and birthdays (handwritten)).  It helps because the client feels special and as long as you have a system in place it's really no major problem.  Well put and well said!

"95% of our customers will purchase from a competitor on impulse, even if you provide a great service" - 100% of those will understand almost instantly how much it cost them to do so. (73% of statistics are created to make blog comments look accurate.)

Great post Philip. Much of this we can control in part. Some of it we cannot control. The greatness of your post is that it directs our attention to these areas. Thanks!
