2007 VS. 2008 What do you think will happen this year?

Real Estate Agent with Preferred Real Estate Services

With all of the doom and gloom in the news about our industry and agents jumping ship into other careers.  What should the rest of us expect?

Your guess is as good as mine!  I am optimistic about the low interest rates and the attention that something needs to be done.

Less and less Sellers are listing their homes because of the "Foreclosure Flood" of homes to hit the market.  However, Buyers are out hunting for that bargain! Contracts fly with "low ball" offers that the agents are embarrassed to submit.  It is hard to be optimistic in a pessimistic market.  What do we do?

What do you think we are in store for?

Rachel,  The buyers are getting the message I think.  They are out there!  Finally, I say we are going to have a bang up year.

Rachel,

This is what I think, and I'm no expert.  The experts we see on TV and the like are real negative because that makes good TV, and radio.  But our demise may not be what really happens.  These economic down turns are never as bad as the media makes them out to be.  And remember we are in an election year, with what we know is a real liberal press that has to trash a republican president and his political party in order the have a chance at the seat of power.  I think parts of the latest stimulus package will be helpful, as well as some action on our parts to keep the economy going.  I would just keep making and spending money the best you can and forget about it.  It will be over with one day.

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks the media has ALOT to do with the panic.

I believe people will sell and and people wil buy and other will speculate and try to buy properties which they believe to be underpriced. Regardless...It is up to those of us in the business to have a positive attitude and take advantage of the market. Those who dwell on the negative aspect of the market will fail because they have set themselves up to fail.

I really think that the market is picking up with low interest rates, plus we are in the January market.  The bank attoneys that I have spoken to recently say that things have picked up, whether they are refinancing or buying new homes!  This to me is promising.

With a presidential election this year we will have a slight rebound over 2007 and a heck of a 2009!

Happy Selling
