Beginning January 21st, Dallas home owners can gain free admission and memberships to the Dallas Museum of Art. Special exhibitions will still incur a fee, but if you have the free membership, you can accrue "badges" to earn free admission to some exhibitions. The parking fee in the underground garage will remain $10, however, those who join the new DMA Partners program will receive complimentary parking. If you are currently a DMA members, your parking will be upgraded for free on January 21 to DMA Partner.
Adds DMA director Maxwell Anderson, “Nobody has ever done this. We’re going to build a model for museum engagement that we believe every other museum like us will want to have.” DMA is the first museum in the country to offer such a pairing. Free admission has long been a prosperous idea for museums around the country, however, it's the free membership aspect that makes DMA unique.
The move comes as DMA hopes to broaden their appeal with people who may be more interested in visiting the new Perot Museum of Nature and Science and Klyde Warren Park.
