Tsawwassen Waterfront homes are truly a great value. Tsawwassen is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the Greater Vancouver area and also one of the best kept secrets. Boasting the most sunshine of any area of our rainy Vancouver climate, we only get one third of the rainfall that the rest of Metro Vancouver gets! That in itself is reason to want to move here. Homeowners that live on the water here in Tsawwassen are really living the dream for a fraction of Vancouver waterfront prices.

Tsawwassen is a suburban, mostly residential community located on a peninsula in the southwestern corner of Delta and is only about 40 minutes to down town  Vancouver. These homes are located on the perimeter of this peninsula with these waterfront homes in the Beach Grove, Boundary Bay and English bluff areas of Tsawwassen.

With a population of around 20,000, Tsawassen is a quiet suburban town that is a great place to raise young families. It has a very low crime rate and has some of the best schools in the lower mainland with Southpointe private academy ranking 8.6/10 for the 2011 school year.Tsawwassen waterfront homes

These Tsawwassen waterfront homes are large and architecturally aesthetic. They have large entertaining areas and huge kitchens with open living areas that are perfect for parties and even weddings. The lot sizes are also quite extensive and allow for these large gatherings and great summer events. The views of the sunset on the English Bluff side are nothing short of amazing.

Most of these waterfront homes can be obtained for under 3 million dollars which is a steal here in the greater Vancouver area.  The price for a waterfront home in Vancouver could easily cost you 10 million or more. With the average price of a home in Tsawwassen around the $700,000 mark, paying a little more to get waterfront is well worth it if you can afford it.

When looking for waterfront property or any type of housing, buyers need to be armed with all the local knowledge and statistics. Linzie, I must admit I was intrigued by the name of your community and that is why I stopped in.  You held my interest and now I know more about this wonderful community of 20,000 that is a moderate drive into Vancouver.  Dying to know. . . . . . . is the "T" silent?  How did Tsawwassen get its name, what does it mean?  (Sorry, I am a retired Social Studies teacher!)

Hi Bruce, Thanks for your response! Tsawwassen is a first nations name given to the community by the people thousands of years ago. It means "land facing the sea". Most people that live in the community pronounce it t-was-sen but apparently it is supposed to be pronounces Saw-was-sen which I've only heard radio announcers say it that way.

Linzie, thanks for answering my questions!  I like the Saw-was-sen version better!  No matter how one pronounces the name you have a very beautiful community!
