I was thinking about the families in Connecticut this morning and what I would say to them if I could.
These were random thoughts but I knew the answer as I was cleaning the kitchen floor.
I needed to make a bunch of calls so I was configuring a blog post in my mind before I sat down to return them.
I would have said...
They're with you, just stop look and listen...
Because deep down in my soul I believe this.
And this has been my recurring experience since I lost my Dad earlier this year.
But those are private moments and quirky events all year long that are just part of my own special story.
The story that I WOULD tell this Holiday Season would be to stop look and listen.
When the favorite toy falls out of the closet or the favorite show turns on the tv or the favorite song comes on at just the right moment, enjoy that moment.
Because you carry that person with you the rest of your life. They are near and dear and always there.
Anyway, I decided NOT to write the post I had outlined in my mind and sat down to make my calls.
I needed to call my Dentist. Turns out he was overseas. I missed his Assistant's call several times.
Finally I reached Clarissa live and we resolved the issue.
I went back to retrieve more messages and the next one stopped me in my tracks.
Joyful, but sad, too, because I know this will be a very difficult Holiday for anyone who has lost someone, too.
Clear as day on my Voice Message, just minutes after cleaning the kitchen floor and sitting down to make my calls was Clarissa saying...
Cheryl, Dr. V will not be back until July 7..oops...Jan 7.
Tears rolled down. July 7. Happy Birthday, Daddy. Yes, I know you are always around.
So to the families in Connecticut and the clients and friends and neighbors and families I know who have lost someone near and dear...
May you find peace in the small magical moments around you this Christmas Season.
Yes, Clarissa, I went ahead and wrote this post as you requested. Merry Christmas!
