IMSD System Challenge
First I have to say how much I like this contest as I really like to read what systems other agents are using. I am always looking for new and better ways to do things and do not see a reason to reinvent the wheel.
My Post Production Photo System-
I was thinking about the different systems we use and which would be best to share, I decided this is one of our most basic, yet beneficial systems. While you may not have the same equipment as we do, there are inexpensive ways to get the same results.
First we start with a Canon DSLR camera and take lots of pictures of each of our listings. While we are not great photographers, we try to get lots of high quality images. I usually set the image quality to medium to conserve hard drive space while making sure we get enough resolution. I know most agents will not spend the money for a DSLR but it does make a huge difference.
We bring in the storage card from the camera to our office desktop. We use a program called Adobe Photoshop Elements (sells for about $60). Elements is a low price version of the much better known Photoshop. Elements is geared towards personal and business who don’t do a great deal of graphics. It actually offer lots of editing functionality.
We start the program and go to the editor. We set up a folder for each listing and then batch process all the images of each listing. As part of our batch processing, we sharpen the image, adjust the color, reduce the size of each picture, and insert copyright data into the image. The editor proceeds to make the adjustments to the images and moves them into the new folder we created. We then verify the images are in the new folder and then format the card so its ready for its next use.
