Hey everyone,

Valentine's Day is Thursday.   Here is the start of a list of some good gift ideas and some not-so-good ideas for your loved one.  Feel free to add.  I can use some ideas.

Good:

  • Gift Certificate for a Massage at a nice place
  • comfy pajamas, silk etc

Not so Good:

  • Lingerie (lol that's really for the guy)
  • Household items (vacuums, etc)
  • Gas station or store bought flowers (seems like a last minute idea at the checkout)
  • Gym membership (oh my)

This is a good post.  If I get a GF by the next Valentines I will now know what not to get her.

Excellent suggestions, Christine.  Some men should put more thought into what a woman's reaction to the gift might be.  I.E., what does it suggest to a woman when she receives a gym membership?

My wonderful husband sent me some beautiful flowers last year. Which seems like an average gift, but when I got home that afternoon there were over a hundred hearts he had made himself taped to plastic forks in our front yard. It was so sweet. I will always remember it too.He is the best. I loved it.

We really  don't care for valentines day, but the list of ideas should for those who do.  Thanks for the quick rundown of the do's and don'ts.  Lu

My most memorable Valentines gift was a set of pliers.  Pliers!  What was the message behind that? My best valentines gift was a plane ticket to Italy! Good thread here, light hearted (pardon the pun) and fun to read.  Maybe a "best and worst" Valentines experience/gift blog to give us singles hope and inspiration.
