GRANDVIEW -  Most real estate businesses focus strictly on the bottom line. Missouri Real Estate Exchange, however, believes in solving problems for buyers and sellers.

            "We treat people right and talk to them on their level," co-owner Dan Reedy said. "We have a lot of empathy for the situation they are in and try to help. There is no pressure - if we are not the best option, we will put them in touch with someone who is."

            That personal touch is why business has been booming since Dan and Nancy Reedy started the business on Sept. 1, 2005.

  The Reedys bring a wealth of sales and real estate experience to the new company:

  • Dan, a lifelong resident of the area, has 23 years of sales experience. He knows the local real estate market inside and out, which enables him to find high-quality properties that other professionals may overlook.
  • Nancy has worked in all aspects of real estate - from buying and selling to developing - for more than two decades. She also has 20 years of accounting experience and is in high demand as an interior designer.

The business concept behind Missouri Real Estate Exchange is simple:

Pay sellers fair value for their home, then help buyers purchase it at a good price. "We can pay more and sell for less, because our overhead is lower," Dan said.

            Many sellers find themselves in a difficult situation because of a job layoff, divorce or other personal problems. The Reedys promise a fair offer and quick payment.

            "The majority of our competitors either don't call people back or offer a lowball figure over the phone," Dan said. "When someone calls us, they deal directly with the owners. We get out to the house quickly, look it over and tell them what we can do. We usually can write a contract and have a certified check to them in only two or three days."

            Missouri Real Estate Exchange also is sensitive to the needs of buyers, most of whom are first-time buyers, people with credit problems or investors.

            "Because of our low overhead, we can sell property below market value," Dan said. "We work with multiple mortgage companies that offer loans that meet buyers' needs, even if their credit isn't perfect."

            The long-term vision for Missouri Real Estate Exchange is to be the best, not necessarily the largest

"Our goal is not to be the biggest company," Nancy said. "We want to do good business and be around for a long time."
