What $400,000 Buys You

 There are trade-offs between price, condition, and location any time you are buying real estate. Here's a sample of what $400,000 buys you in different locations around DC.
Arlington, VA: Due to it's proximity to the District, the Pentagon, and major companies, Arlington real estate carries a pretty hefty premium. There are currently 14 homes, mostly condos, between $380k and $420k, as shown here.
Springfield, VA: More suburban in nature, Springfield is south of the District which makes for longer commutes to the city, but is very conveniently located less than ten miles to Ft Belvoir and about 25 miles to Quantico MCB. Townhouses and older single family homes are the norm in the $400,000 price range, as shown here.
Woodbridge, VA: New construction garage townhomes and even single family homes are the norm for $400,000 in Woodbridge, very close to Belvoir and Quantico, and about 20 miles south of the Pentagon.
