For the last week, I have been touring the Issaquah Highlands neighborhood, looking at homes and condos, eating at restaurants, and driving by all the parks and schools.
The Highlands are one of the first sustainable communities to be developed. Every home is within walking distance to parks, trails, shops, and restaurants. There are many places to park your bike, and a transit center is located very convieniently off a main road, so residents can take advantage of public transportation.
One thing I noticed is a ton of construction, and not just new houses getting built, but also lots of new businesses. A trip into Blakely Hall showed me an interesting grid with the plans for all the new stores and restaurants.
