Sellers who use an agent vs. sellers who do FSBO, receive 20% more

According to the NAR, sellers who use an agent vs. sellers who do FSBO, receive 20% more for their home.

The exact number on the NAR site for 2011 were $174,900 to $215,000 for the same home. So just about right.

Even if you take out the Realtor commission the folks who use a qualified Realtor are far better off financially than the FSBO seller.

Not to mention safer. So to me, that's a no brainer. So why do sellers do that? Try to sell themselves? I am at a loss.

Plus consider the mental stress of the FSBO client which is huge. They don't know what they donl't know: what forms they need, they are not prepared to come to closing with all the documents and no one is standing by advising them or holding their hand (my specialty) during the stress filled time of selling your own home.

It is not easy being a Realtor today, but I love being one (most of the time).

We have laws, rules regulations and some scary people in the world who might just become one of our clients or worse just someone pretending to be a client.

You can't put a price on safety.

So the good news is that Buyers who definitely would use same agent again are at 84%

That's an encouraging stat. I wonder what the other 16% are thinking.

Have a safe and peace filled day.
