Nostalgic Joys of Homes For Sale in Sylva’s Fisher Creek Neighborhood

Homes For Sale in Sylva’s Fisher Creek Neighborhood raise, in the corner of my mind, a nostalgia of an easier-going more laid-back time.  When driving Fisher Creek Road you can still feel the evidence of the Homes For Sale Fisher Creek Road, Scotts Creek, Syvla NCfarming community that once dominated this picturesque little valley.  In fact, several small farms still exist along the roadway contributing to the feeling of living in a less complicated world that in some ways, time forgot.

One of the most delightful aspects of the mountain towns of Western North Carolina is how they are mapped out.  In these photogenic towns there is no east-west/north-south evenly laid out grid.  For the most part the streets and roads follow the graceful contours of the hills that define so much who we mountain people are. The main thoroughfares branch out from the town center like the arteries from the heart.  The main thoroughfares in turn branch off into the many different roads like veins from the arteries.  Each of these smaller veins follows the contours of a valley delineated by small and crystal-clear roaring branches (local colloquial for creek).  Even though I’ve lived here for years, I always experience a sense of awe and wonder each time I get the chance to meander up one of these branches to the road’s end where the hillside steepens.

Homes For Sale Fisher Creek Road, Scotts Creek, Syvla NCFisher Creek Road is one of those branches and those who have the fortune to live here seem to never take for granted the grandeur of the natural beauty that surrounds them as all of the homes show signs of being tended with loving care.

Wouldn’t you Love to Live in the Fisher Creek Neighborhood of Sylva, NC?

What Homes Will You Find in the Neighborhood?

You will NOT find the ticky-tacky cookie cutter homes of an urban sub-development.  There is little uniformity to the unique homes of Fisher Creek just off of Skyland Drive, the historic old highway that use to connect Sylva to the outside world.  There was no one builder and the homes were built over a span of many decades.  You’ll find everything from charming craftsmen bungalows, cute cape cods, inviting farm houses, rambling luxury homes, 50’s style ranches, to neo-french prevential revivals.

Many homes are small ranging in size from 1000 square feet to 1600.  But, you will also find executive estates with 2000 to 3000 square feet with multi acre lots. Many of the homes were build in the 1930s and 40s.  Most have been undated and remain well cared for by local people who honor and respect their Mountain Heritage.  The number of bedrooms and bathrooms vary as much as the style.  Just like the variation in the homes, the lots also provide for variety and range in size from very tiny, for those who detest yard work to very large multi acre estates.  For those looking for nostalgic neighborhoods with historic and picturesque homes on a modest to a more liberal budget, you are sure to find the perfect home right here on Skyland Drive.

Even Though Sylva is a Small Town, There is Always Something Do?
