TEN THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Properties
  1. I am the oldest of four children.  I always believed that you did what your mother said or there would be trouble.  My two brothers and sister followed behind me and they stressed her to the max.  My sister always complained that I was the perfect one and she had to follow behind me in school, because they always greeted her with "Oh, you are Barbara's sister and I am glad to have you in my class.  They soon changed their minds.
  2. I was the daughter of a bootlegger!  My mother was the oldest of 11 children and she always had to take care of them.  She married at sixteen to get out of the house.  A handsome charming man swept her off her feet.  Only later did she find out he was a bootlegger and realized that is where his money came from.  Strange men would come to the house at night and my mother and I were told to stay in the bedroom.  She realized she did not want me to be raised in this environment so she decided to leave the life of ease and take me away.  THANK GOD!
  3. I smoked cigars, well only a few! I have never smoked cigarettes, but Cigar Bars were in vogue and my friends and I would go in and smoke cigars feeling quite cool! Fortunately this was a phase and quickly passed.
  4. I was in the marching band as a majorette, that was before drill teams.
  5. I married my high school sweetheart who I met as a new kid when moving from east Texas.  My first day at school when I went to band period he sat behind me.  He tossed a bug in my lap, I dropped my band instrument and immediately took a disliking to him.  I asked him what in the heck was he doing and he laughed and said "sorry".  That didn't get it for me and I was furious.  He persisted in showing up wherever I was and was always smiling.  Slowly, very slowly, I warmed up to him, we married and he was the love of my life.
  6. I am a writer, first book was "How to Sell Your House Fast for the Right Price" and I am currently working on the next one.
  7. I really sucked at algebra!  My algebra teacher lived down the street from me and went to my church. He knew I was having problems and he would come over to my desk and "help" me.  What he did was work the problem for me and I passed with flying colors!  I loved it, but he do me a favor?  To this day I am not sure what good algebra would have done for me so I counted it as a favor.
  8. Slumber Party for 40 girls! My dad was building a new home for us.  He built the garage first and we lived there while he was building the house.  It had a roof on it and outside studs but no framing and this was the same inside the house.  40 girls came and we had the best slumber party anyone ever had.  Mom brought #2 tubs filled with popcorn and prepared a constant flow of soft drinks and snacks for us through out the night. Most of my friends parents had  much more money than mine.  That said, they always want to hang out at my house.  My mom was the one who picked everyone up after a late band practice because their parents didn't want to do it.
  9. Breakfast in the park!  I used to take my two daughters to have breakfast in the park and then we would play.  Following my mom's lead, I was always working to build memories.  Both my daughters are grown and have children of their own and they still remember those breakfast in the park days.
  10. The new man in my life!  I am a great granny!  My great grandson, Casen, is just over a week old. I had already been calling him Prince Casen for some time and he was actually both within hours of the Prince of England, so they have their prince and we have ours! He was born two months early and has to stay in the hospital until he gains enough weight.  Did I say he is handsome?
