Why choose a brand new Agent?

  • Latest most up-to-date  education
  • Eager to work
  • More time to spend with the client..
  • Has time to give client full attention.
  • Anxious to sell or show all properties.
  • Previewed a lot of homes.
  • Looking to build client base.
  • Excited about the business.
  • Has a broker who double check everything.

I'm not saying that the experienced agents don't do a great job...I'm just saying that there is nothing to fear by using a new agent.

Barbara, you are right in all that you say. New agents are eager and will work hard. But experienced agents are eager and will work hard. It's all about synchronicity. If you "click" with the customer, you're in. We were all new once upon a time. Best of luck to you.

Barbara - Good luck. I shall be in your shoes shortly. My post shall be "Why choose a brand new Agent who is from the UK and not from the USA?" Luckily my wife is a Realtor so I might not starve.

I hope no one thinks I'm knocking our more experienced Realtors!  I'm not! Their knowledge has really helped me over the last two months.  If they were not good at what they do then I wouldn't have anyone to set a good example.  But everyone has to start somewhere!

Barbara, I agree that new agents have the energy that an experienced agent MAY not. We're so excited to get our first listings that we want to do everything right and do it now. Like putting out the sign, taking great pictures, making the best brochure, getting and reporting feedback, open house, etc. Then when we're negotiating an offer we don't want to appear wimpy so we use our best strategies (that we learned in class). I'm sure the experienced agent on the other side is just shaking their head and thinking "another newbie'. But they put up with us and usually offer great advice along the way.

Buyers and sellers can definitely benefit from new agents, with our brokers guidance of course. :)

Barbara-good for you for putting yourself out there.  Everyone was new in this profession once in their life.  I like to recommend a team approach for that first outing.  You might be amazed at what both a newbie and an experienced agent can learn from each other.

Barbara...we have a mentoring program in my office and it has worked out great for both parties.  It is such a help for the new agent and many more experienced agents enjoy the fun of sharing what they have learned through the years.
