Weekly office Meetings

When I worked for a big broker I could not stand our weekly office meeting.  Our meeting would last for an hour and I did find parts of it informative but that would usually take up about 20-25 minutes.  The rest of the time I could not wait to get out .  What  got me was all the outside and sometimes internal companies that would try to sell me stuff.  The problem with this approach was I got to the point that I had no interest in anyone pitching anything.  I could have missed a great opportunity but at the same time I resented my broker for taking up my time with information that did not necessarily benefit me.   I used to joke that the best way to make money in real estate is to teach people how to do it and charge them for your information.

What are your thoughts about your weekly meeting?

Stuart,

Years ago I was with a large company with several offices in Seattle/Eastside. There was always a 8:30 monday morning meeting(mandatory). This was fine with 15-20-30 agents to talk over the week past and new listings, sales, thoughts, etc. When the office grew to over 100 agents in less than a year, the meeting became impossible and a waste of time. Several of us left the company because of this mandatory meeting. My time was better spent working from home.

I have to tell you my office was a small office, and I still felt a large part of the meeting was a waste of my time.
