Even though I am north of the 49th parallel I am like most Canadians interested in the political affairs of the United States, even more so than most having spent the early part of my life in California where I was born.

I don't recall a presidential election being so close this late in the game or having such dynamic contenders or such interest and anticipation being in the air.

Active Rain is a true cross section of the whole country and a collection of many well versed, knowledgeable professionals coming from all walks of life. I don't think Gallup could find a better selection to poll.

Here is a poll for all Active Rain members....

  • What effect will a new President in the White House have over the US economy in the next four years and what will they need to do to bring about needed changes?
  • Who is going to be the next President of the United States?

I look forward to reading your ideas and thoughts.

I think what happens today doesn't show up for a few years by the time their policies take effect.

Mike,

The President has very little impact on the economy...the folks at CNN don't seem to understand that and the general population would have you believe that, like Wal-Mart, the White House is the hub of economic activity in the country!  If sales are sluggish in a market, it is likley due to low consumer confidence.  Guess who consumers are?  Us!

While I don't like any of the candidates this run, I will be voting for McCain.

Be of service! The rewards will come!

I agree with Carmen and Matt....The President is more of a figue head than anything.  Congress makes the laws finalizes the budget and so on. CNN like most media are so into sensationalism that the TRUE story is clouded and biased to fit their needs.  McCain gets my vote as we need to be strong in this world of NUTS out their.  The problem is some of our own people have joined that group.  WE are not waht we are sor sitting on our hands!

The president doesn't have that much impact or control of the economy.  The economy goes through cycles on its own. The president has more control over national defense.
