The photo and videos were taken a few days ago, but today is a good day to talk about bats.
Here are some bats that I found the other day.
At first it might seem as though its not a major concern because the bats are trapped by the screen. However, bat infestations should not be taken lightly. The inhalation of the fungal spores off of bat dropps is a health hazard to humans. Inhaling the fungal spores can cause Histoplasmosis which is a respiratory disease that cause flu-like symptoms. It is generally not fatal unless a person has a compromised immune system. In the photos below, you can see a significant amount of the droppings collecting outside of the home. There is no doubt in my mind that a concerning amount of the feces has collected inside the home has well. Hopefully, it is limited to the gable vent. Bat dropping clean up can be very expensive. A professional should be called in to the do the clean up.
The other problem with bats is they may have rabies. If a bat has rabies, it will be active during the day and may allow you to approach it. If a bat bites you, it would be prudent to see your doctor.
Personally, I recommend having a bat shelter built near the house. Bats will feuseed on small bugs and mosquitoes around your house but they will generally prefer the shelter over your home. I also recommend getting bats removed in the fall, winter, or spring. Bats should not be removed in the summer. The baby bats can not fly yet and removing them will cause them to die.
