Join local walkers and runners for the annual Run Your Can Off Thanksgiving Trail Run. This event is a fundraiser for food donations to the Winooski Food Shelf. Admission is free, however it is hoped that each participant will pledge a certain amount of food donation for each mile run. Such as two canned items for each mile run, or one canned item for every fifteen minutes of running time. Participants can pledge whatever amount they would like. Non-food items such as cleaning supplies and toiletries are also appreciated.
The course follows a 1.25 mile loop on a smooth forest trail through the Gilbrook Natural Area which is located adjacent to the Public Works Facility on Gilbrook Road off Lafountain Street in Winooski, Vermont. The event begins at 9 am (registration begins at 8 am) and will last until 3 pm. Walkers and runners can do as many loops as they would like.
Past events have had roughly 70 walkers/runners with distances ranging from 1.25 miles to 33.75 miles - WOW!
