Obviously we have to drown our sorrows somehow with all the stress going on in the national news these days, and the Washington Post recently provided an easy way to do just that - with forty-five different pumpkin beers, $5 each. Sister restaurants Scion and Crios are hosting the Fall Beer Festival this Thursday through Saturday, with an extensive selection of Oktoberfests and fresh seasonal harvest ales, but the biggest draw should be the extensive selection of pumpkin brews.
Scion will have up to nine pumpkin beers on draft, while Crios will have eight different kinds. Each will stock 14 more in bottles, with no duplicates between the two bars. Bottles and drafts have a flat price of $5, though drafts will be served in either pints or 10-ounce snifters. Some beers are only available in 22-ounce bottles for $10, though you can also get a half-bottle pour for $5 on Thursday night. Beer manager Tim Liu cautions that the lists will change as various kegs kick, but they will all be available at some point over the weekend.
Fans of Washington state's Elysian brewery will find the Night Owl Pumpkin Ale and the tasty Dark O'the Moon Pumpkin Stout at Scion, and Great Pumpkin Imperial Pumpkin Ale and the tempting Hansel & Gretel pumpkin-and-ginger pilsner at Crios.
