LATEST UPDATE FROM OPERATION PINECONE "HEADQUARTERS"

Our packing volunteers and I have been very busy with Easter preparations and shipping of Girl Scout cookies.  So far we have received and shipped about 1,000 boxes of cookies.  I have another 1,000 arriving tomorrow and many more coming next week.

We've also packed and shipped approx. 500 Easter baskets (bags) of treats with plastic filled eggs.  In addition we shipped a whole BIG box of plastic filled eggs to the MWR at Camp Diamondback near Mosul so they can again have their Easter Egg hunt like last year.

This passed Sunday we had a packing party with the youth group of Ashburn Presbyterian Church.  The donations from the congregation were wonderful and the youth group helped us stuff quite a few more Easter Bags with goodies which were also shipped out right away.  The rest of the goodies and toiletries were brought back here for later shipping. 

On Sunday we are doing a joint event with Moe's Southwest Grill at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  Moe's is providing a FREE buffet dinner for all outpatients to come and attend and Operation Pinecone will be handing out our Easter Bags (we have another 300 stuffed for this) and having them select from a basket of eggs to see if they can win a "prize egg".  Should be a lot of fun!  We also have extra stuffed for taking over to in-patients.
