Good things can happen in our business

The GOOD in what we can do:
I believe that the way to success in this business (of Asset Recovery) is in helping others even when they don't believe what has been shared with them.  After all, we have all heard "if it's too good to be true, then it probably is".
In our case, it isn't.  We provide a very valuable service, which, in many cases, if it weren’t for us, money that is sorely needed (in most cases) by the Claimant (the one owed the money that doesn't even know it), would disappear into thin air, in most cases through escheatment.

Escheatment is the legal way for a state to take what doesn't rightfully doesn't belong to them.

My story deals with a transaction that involves a 19-year-old girl. The money that we found for her belonged to her because her parents were deceased. She lived on the coast of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The day after my business partner and I found and spoke to her (it took us almost a year to locate her), she was to be evicted from her apartment, her car was broken down (to which she had no money to have it fixed) and she was about to lose her job because she had no way to get there.

After speaking to her and realizing how dire her circumstances were, we decided to drive 5 hours to see her. We felt that she needed some ‘adult’ help and took the time to be there for her. She had never had a bank account and didn’t have the funds to get one opened either. She desperately needed our help and was ecstatic that we found her.

We drove the 5 hours to get to her and took her to a nice dinner. On the way, I called her landlord and paid her rent to keep her from being evicted. My partner and I got a hotel and then took her to breakfast after picking her up and went straight to the courthouse to get the check. We then opened up a bank account together (which I believe she still has) and then talked for a while. We then had lunch and helped her to get her car fixed.

She was so happy for what we did for her that she started crying from happiness and couldn't believe that there were people in the world that were so considerate of others after all that she had been through the last few years. We didn’t make a huge profit from this deal and that is not why we did what we did, but we felt rewarded by what we did for her.

This, by far, is an example of why WE are in this business.

I must say that it was a great feeling to help someone out the way we did.  It is very satisfying to know that what I do benefits so many people.  If money is the only reason that motivates you, then, I believe that you will never succeed as far as you can.
