2013 Holiday Light Viewing on Hilton Head Island, SC2013 Holiday Light Viewing on Hilton Head, SC

This is a great time to get out and about and hop in the car after dinner to enjoy all the decorative lights on Hilton Head Island.

TOWN OF HILTON HEAD OFFICIAL TREE: Tonight, November 30, 2013, will mark the official beginning of the season with the lighting of the Town of Hilton Head Tree at 5:30PM by Mayor Drew Laughlin. Festivities begin at 3:30 and culminate with the throwing of the switch. The tree is located on the grounds of the Coastal Carolina Art Center and with a visit by Rudolph and Santa - before they begin their work in earnest preparing for Christmas - it also kicks off the season for the island. Donations for Deep Well food bank are welcome.

TOWN OF HILTON HEAD FIRE STATION 3, 534 William Hilton Parkway: Every year the display at Station 3 gets bigger and better. These hard working firefighters take time out to really dress up their station. Not only is the building decorated, but you can drive around and see how they've added lighting throughout the surrounding trees. Located close to First Prebyterian Church, it is easiest to use the traffic light on the side where the daycare is located.

Right across the street, you can get a glance of a home on the golf course in Port Royal Plantation - these owners have a pretty display too and though you cannot go inside the community unless you're an owner, it brings sparkly light and adds to the beauty.

WEXFORD SHOPPING CENTER: working your way down the island, you'll see the cute lighting displays by the Wexford Shopping Center and their merchants. With a wooden soldier theme, you can also enjoy the cider and cookies served by several of the shops.

Holiday LightsSEA PINES RESORT, SOUTH BEACH, AND HARBOURTOWN; As you work your way down the island, be sure to end up in Harbourtown or at South Beach. These two areas are really decked out this time of year and it is nice to stroll by the boats that are anchored in the harbour; many of them also with lights. The shops here too have goodies for the kids and there is usually entertainment scheduled as well as other activities.

FOREST BEACH AND COLIGNY CIRCLE: This area is another fun place to be. Coligny is really true Hilton Head. With the proximity to the beach, the park, and shops, it has stood the test of time. During the holiday season, you can walk around the center, check out the lights that the individual retailers put up, take pictures with Santa, and be sure to bring a donation for the Deep Well food bank that is located there as well.

Enjoy these that I've pointed out - and if you see another area that I should check out - let me know!
