Enjoy a Safe and Secure Holiday

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season we sometimes forget about common sense security and safety practices. While we know most people are honest and caring citizens, we still need to keep our guard especially during the holiday season. Here are a few tips to keep you secure and safe.

If you use a home security system, the holiday season is a good time to reacquaint yourself and your family with the procedures and telephone numbers.
If you display gifts under a tree, keep nearby windows closed and drapes/blinds shut at night and while no one is at home.
Do't leave a message on your answering machine indicating you are away.
When traveling, leave a vehicle in the driveway and even make arrangements to have it moved occassionally; use timers on TV's, lights, and radios; and don't let newspapers and mail accumulate.
Do not post your travel plans on your Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or LinkedIn or other social networking site.
If you upload pictures from your mobile device to social media - others will know when you are away from home.
