But to name a few - how about Amazon, Apple, Disney, Google,
Harley Davidson, Hewlett-Packard, Lotus Cars, Maglite, Mattel,
and the Yankee Candle Company.
Jay!
Free markets aren't perfect, but they are the best economic system proven over and over in country after country!
Jay Markanich is the home inspector to see in Northern Virginia. Contact him at (703) 330-6388. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Lisa. I go. "They" think "they" can do socialism better than it has been done before, that's why! Do you have a garage?
Thanks Drick. I'm here every Tuesday. There are over 180 of these on AR and this one is featured!
I might not Bob. It would get me audited.
All true Kevin. Nothing is perfect, but markets are wonderfully smart! Well, I do look forward to perfection in heaven ...
Thank you Will. My numbers are all over the place!
Jay, excellent points supporting capitalism. Wonder why the uninformed masses are rushing headlong toward communism? Many in china are slaves. Guess they truely not informed.
Mike - Orwell (a COMMITTED socialist) demonstrated in his book Animal Farm that the uninformed are informed after it's too late! And it's not good news!
Jay- and this is why carports will never work! Just kidding. I love your free enterprise posts!
Jay, free enterprise is the basis of growth - or so do I believe. That creates the competition and that brings out best from best of us!
It is amazing how many successful businesses started in the garage! Lots of folks found the garage a good place to get started on the road to success.
What I've seen in the past couple decades has been an increasing move to keep the hard-working away from power, while at the same time, special interests from the lunatic fringes of Congress have had their way with us. The Supreme Court decision which allows corporations to be deemed as people too, nailed the coffin shut. Untold amounts of special interest money pour into political campaigns, deeming the average citizen out-gunned, and unempowered in their own land!
There probably wasn't Laura! There is a famous TV interview between Milton Friedman and the vacuous Phil Donahue here where Donahue says we Americans are so greedy. Dr. Friedman says that the Chinese Communists are just as greedy and Donahue is dumbfounded. The problem isn't in the wanting, it's when what we want belongs to somebody else, or is the result of somebody else's labor.
And are still run there Joan. My business is run in an "office" in my house! And has been since 1980! You will notice that I am not Google or Amazon.
Well thought out Myrl. I am impressed you remember that "decision" by the Supreme Court. Most people don't know what makes up corporations - people do! (corporations are entities on paper only) - and who owns them!
You might like this post about who owns most of what we call corporations:

Get out of the American Peoples way and let them get to work. We need charity not government dole. The rich are generally very charitable.
Certainly Gene. And rich conservatives, generally, maybe. Rich liberals, generally, or mostly, no.
Thanks Erica. Thanks be to private property.
There you go Lisa! You can be come the next Amazon or Google or Yankee Candle!
Look at the link when you click on those words John! The bankers aren't as wonderfully smart as those in the link... he says with a wink.
