Moving Your Family Forward For a New Year
It's a New Year! Are you thinking about ways to move your family forward for 2014? If so, you are definitely not alone! Here are a few tips for things you could do to start the New Year off on the right foot:
- Make a budget you can stick with! The first thing you should do is set up a financial buget, but be sure it is realistic. A good budget will not only get your bills paid (on time), but will also allow you an opportunity to put something aside for a rainy day fund as well as have a little fun. A good budget will NOT make you feel as though you have no money! A good budget will empower you!
- Get the whole family on board. The best way to move your entire family forward is to put them all in the same car! If the members of your family know what your plans are for the family, and how it will impact them, they will be more positive about any upcoming changes. They will also be in a better position to support you and the direction you want your family to go in.
- Get a copy of your credit report. You can get a copy of your credit report from the credit bureaus at absolutely no cost to you once EVERY YEAR! It will not affect your credit report in any way. This is the best way for you to keep track of what may be affecting your credit (either positively or negatively). It is also a great monitoring technique to be sure no one has stolen or secretly borrowed your identity (or credit card).
- Find resources to be on your "family team." Let's face it... Everybody needs some kind of help, some times. The people you should get on your team would include a real estate agent, a mortgage lender, and a credit counselor if your credit is a problem.
