What kind of Video Camera and Video Editing Software Should I get?

By

Every year I try to take a good look at where the real estate market is heading and then try to figure out how I need to adapt my marketing to continue to stay at the top of the competition.  I have come to the realization that this year in 2014 VIDEO IS WHERE IT WILL BE!

video camera

I have a great Nikon camera with multiple lenses that I use for all of my real estate photography, but I don't yet have a good video camera and am looking for some suggestions.

I am looking for something basic around $200 or under that I can use to make video clips for Youtube and gather testimonials from my clients.  I am also looking for some basic video editing software to edit the movie clips, add music and also add text/captions.

I NEED SOME HELP FROM MY ACTIVE RAIN COMRADS!

What video cameras do you recommend?

What video editing software do you recommend that won't break the bank that is EASY TO USE?

Actually, the newer iPhones & other smart-phones have pretty good cameras in them. I have a Canon T1i that I use for photographs. Going to start to use it, along with the iPhone 5 I already have been using, for videos. I'll also start using my LightRoom 4 and Sony Vega programs that I haven't used yet, but they were highly recommended. New Canon DSLR's can run around $500, and some older models, like mine (about 2 years old) can probably be picked up for around $200. I just spent around $400 for a wide angle lens for it, so accessories can eat you up in a hurry!

Plenty of YouTube videos on "How to...", just look thru them!

For video, I'm looking wistfully at the Sony Handycam AX 100.  Ultra HD 4K video is going to be hot when it finally comes to maturity.  Right now, the AX 100 costs about two grand and there will almost certainly be better options coming to the market in the near future, like the Panasonic Lumix DMC - GH4.

I pick up a Sony at Costco that has been serving me well.

Like Sony, get a camera that has been out awhile, that you are not paying for new and high tech. You get something cheaper that is more than the extra level brand new for 200 buck! But if you find loose change in the couch, take the cans and bottles back, spring for this one.
