Golf Facility

For residents who enjoy recreation, the Leisure World Golf Facility promises a healthy balance of challenge and relaxation with every swing. The golf course itself consists of 18 regulation holes, but the facility as a whole provides a 10-tees driving range, putting green, a pitching area, and a golf shop as well. Other accommodations include golf cart rentals, storage and lockers, lessons from a PGA professional, and the option to join the Leisure World Golf Club.

Two Clubhouses

Managed by Leisure World’s Education and Recreation Department, Clubhouse I andClubhouse II coordinate activities, social events, and even trips (both local and long-distance) year-round. Clubhouse I is located right by the outdoor pool, lawn bowling green, and shuffleboard courts; Clubhouse II features an indoor pool, a fitness facility, and an auditorium. These clubhouses generously provide space and resources to clubs and organizations within the community. As added benefits, rooms may be rented out for private parties, and residents with temporary needs are offered free medical equipment loans through “Friends in Sickness and Health” (F.I.S.H.) services.

Dining

Food is catered to a variety of plates and palates at Leisure World of Maryland. For more casual dining with TVs and a 10-seat bar, residents can head to the Stein Room—which also features cocktails—or the Terrace Room any day of the week. For fine dining, the Cascade Bistro is open Thursdays through Saturdays. The restaurants all offer sandwiches, soups, full salad bars, diverse meat entrees, and daily/nightly specials. Finally, thanks to Banquet and Catering Services, parties ranging from 20 to 250 guests can book banquet rooms for special events and receptions.

MedStar Health Services

Leisure World of Maryland is committed to every resident’s health and well-being, and the MedStar Health Medical Center, which is conveniently located within the Leisure Worldcommunity,provides numerous services and benefits for community residents. Highly qualified and registered specialists are here to accommodate residents, whether the need is primary care, urgent care, home care, dental care, pharmaceutical services, laboratory work, or social work. As the largest healthcare provider in the District of Columbia and Maryland, MedStar is able to accept many private insurance carriers. Additional health services are offered in the Leisure World Plaza.

Maintenance & Household Services

The Leisure World Physical Properties Department (PPD) ensures that household maintenance and repairs are carried out right away. Situated adjacent to the MedStar Health Medical Center, the PPD is comprised of nine sub-departments to account for different types of work requests. Services include general Services, a Warehouse Counter, a Kitchen and Bath Center Showroom, and Emergency Services.

Faith & Spirituality

The Leisure World community also contains the Inter-Faith Chapel, a nondenominational congregation, and Our Lady of Grace Church, a Catholic parish with missionary roots tracing back to 1978. The two worship centers share history, as Catholic masses were held in the Inter-Faith Chapel before Our Lady of Grace was established in 1983. Today the Inter-Faith Chapel is “A House of Prayer for All People,” representing 32 different denominations.
