Keep North Attleboro Beautiful

 Keep North Attleboro Beautiful (KNAB) is looking for volunteers for its second annual town-wide cleanup which will take place on May 3, 2013 from 9am to 12 pm.

Keep North Attleboro Beautiful is affiliated with the national Keep America Beautiful (KAB) organization. The national group focuses on litter cleanup, litter prevention, education, and beautification projects. KAB was founded in 1953 in New York City. Keep America Beautiful offers solutions that create clean, beautiful public places, reduce waste and increase recycling, generate positive impact on local economies and inspire generations of environmental stewards. Through their programs and public-private partnerships, they engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community’s environment. They work to build and sustain vibrant communities that are socially connected, environmentally healthy and economically sound

North Attleboro is only the third community in the state to become an affiliate. The other two affiliates are located in Springfield and Mansfield.

To become an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, a town has to complete extensive training and research, including a survey indexing littered areas on the town.

Last year 422 volunteers collected over 6 tons of trash and during the event.

Working together with students, educators, government, and business leaders, KNAB hopes to have a dramatic effect on local economies as it helps produce cleaner, more beautiful public places.
