The Hiddenite Center is pleased to present the “Summer on the Square” concert series. The first concert will be Saturday, June 28 at 6:00 p.m. on the Alexander County Courthouse lawn.
The first concert will be with Caribbean Salsa and Afro-Cuban Music from Cesar Oviedo and his six-piece band.This talented group of musicians from the Piedmont of North Carolina will lead the audience on a musical vacation to the islands. The band’s wide range of instruments includes Congas, Timbales, Piano, Bass Flute and Saxophones. Afro-Cuban styles include Son Montuno, Cha Cha Cha, Guajira, Rumba, and Salsa.
Summer on the Square will continue on Sunday, July 27th starting at 7:30pm with a performance from The Danny Wicker Trio with special guest Mel Jones. This musical trio of Kathy Estes, Nathan Rash, and Danny Wicker, will delight audiences with selections from the great American songbook era of music and an eclectic mix of modern day favorites. This style of music is perfect for dancing; audience members are welcome to bring their dancing shoes for a turn around the Alexander County Courthouse lawn stage.
On Sunday, August 17th, the Summer on the Square finale will feature bluegrass music from Alexander County’s own The Idle Time Band. Comprised of Bill Warren, Eric Childers, Jimmy Trivette, John Treadway, and Russell Loudermelk , The Idle Time Band is renowned for their unique brand of bluegrass. The Summer on the Square finale concert will begin at 7:30pm on the lawn of the Alexander County Courthouse in Taylorsville.
Please bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy this family-friendly entertainment. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to The Hiddenite Center’s Educational Complex (70 Hiddenite Church Road, Hiddenite).
