There was an email from MAR this week covering this new law. I also received emails from fellow Agents. It will be important to set up a system to track this. There are maybe a dozen or so licensed contractors that routinely are used in a Realtor's business. May as well start getting the paperwork soon.

The new regulation regarding service recommendations by Realtors®, takes place August 18, 2014. If a real estate agent suggests a contractor, the status of that contractor license needs to be verified at least once a year.

"The rule applies to “service providers, but not limited to, a mortgage lender or mortgage broker, a real estate appraiser, a home inspector, a home improvement contractor, a plumber, an electrician or a heating/ ventilation/ air condition/ cooling (HVAC) contractor.”
