I want to buy a house

By
Real Estate Agent with Frank Rubi Real Estate

How many times have you answered your phone and heard the voice on the other side say just that.  Or something like I am tired of wasting my money renting?  My first question is always where are you looking and what price range.  Then I ask if they are pre-approved for a loan.  No, my credit isn't very good.  Well how bad is it?

Any way after all this I give them a couple of numbers of mortgage brokers to call and see what is their credit score.  As you expect it is usually poor, very little to put down, etc.  The mortgage broker and I give them some ways to improve their score over time.  They say OK thank you.

Well about three months later I will call them back and ask them if they implemented any of our suggestions.  The response is always no, I haven't had time or something like this.  Excuse me.  Do you want me to buy the home for you?  Do you want it for free?  I really can't help people who won't help themselves first.

Iused to do credit reapir for free, but it always seemed like a futile effort.  so, I started charging for it and I have had a much better response.  When their money is on the line they do what they say or they fade in nothingness.

Just having this conversation with my broker today. The concept of actually saving some money in order to buy a house these days seem about as relevant as dinosaurs. Both have become extinct.

LOL!!  Yes, it sounds "normal".  The next time you speak to this person(s)- be sure to ask if they have any friends or family that they can refer to you!  Maybe their friends or family might be in a better position to buy!

John - We started hooking people up for Lease Options.  it seems to be working.  A little too early to see how it goes though.

Hi John - I would say at least half of my sign/web calls that are potential buyers can't quailify for a loan.  I do commend you for following up, I have to admit I rarely take that step for the exact reasons you mentioned, they just don't seem to have the drive to change bad habits.

Thank you for dropping by my site and leaving a comment on my "Good-bye March" blog post.

John, I want a house for a dollar. I want it for a dollar because my friend got one. Get real. Nothing is free in life.

John I sell some of my investment properties in a way that will help the buyers improve their credit. I do everything but make the payments for them. Same scenario about 80% of the time. I even give them a list of how to do it and when. Most never do anything on the list.

When the rest of us are upgrading to bigger, nicer homes, and they are still in their starter home, the only thing left for them to do is blame someone. The only choices they see are Bush, Wal-Mart, Exxon, and any mortgage lender.

I have a funny feeling these same folks have the same problems at work. They probably never quite get promoted. Huh. Well, what do i know. I am a rich jerk.

John:  It is one of the major frustrations of our job.  People who will not do what it takes to help themselves.  I helped a young girl once, get all the way to the point of the home inspection on her soon-to-be new condo.  Her credit score was circling the drain, but because a friend (with far better credit) told her that her interest rate sucked, she called off the deal.  Since then, she has done NOTHING to improve her credit score.  No matter how many times she calls (about every six months) it's always the same thing.  I think she really just wants to believe that an interest rate is an interest rate, and that she won't have to do anything to get a good one.  I feel your pain!
