Arlington Virginia used to be a part of Washington DC
A little history-
In 1801, the land we know as Arlington was donated by Virginia to the United States government to form the new federal Capital District. But in 1846, the land was given back to Virginia as part of a process involving the abolition of slavery and voting rights.
Today- Arlington Virginia is home to more than 215 thousand people with 71.3% of adults holding a bachelors degree or higher. In 2002, Arlington won the EPA award for Smart Growth. People get around town using the Pentagon and Pentagon City and Ballston Metro stations, Metro buses and street cars.
Neighborhoods are part of a long range plan using smart growth and urban design plans. The city is known for being walkable with little village type communities around Crystal City, Ballston and Rossyln. Of course most people know Arlington Virginia for Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Marine Corp Memorial. These are beautiful tourist sites to see but if you live in Arlington, it's a wonderful place to call home. 
Arlington Virginia home prices range from the low $400's to a couple million dollars. Depending on location and whether you need a single family, condominium or townhome. One thing is sure-the residents of Arlington Virginia LOVE their community. You can feel the hometown quality on weekends where everyone is out walking, going to the Farmer's Markets, shopping and enjoying the outdoor parks and Potomac River.
